I got to spend two hours just cuddling with Jack this afternoon. It was glorious to have a little quiet time with my baby. I love how he just curls up on me. You know how tiny ones tuck their little feet under them and just curl up? I love the unabashed cuddle time you can have with a newborn. A lot of things about newborns can be rough, but that I love. How I will miss it once he gets bigger.
My folks with the kids
Our artist in residence. G and I had a great time painting while Jack napped. She is a very funny little girl and I truly enjoy spending time with her.
Here is our little guy in his Halloween costume. I took a picture now because it barely fits and I fear it will not by Halloween.
Jackson (or "baby man" as G and I call him) turned one month old on Saturday. He gave us his first real smile the Thursday before that and luckily he has done it a few more times. He had his one month check up this morning and as expected he is growing like a weed. He is 13lbs 7oz and 23 1/2 inches. Those stats put him in the 97% for both height and weight. He is doing well with tummy time and starting to become much more aware of his surroundings. He is right on track. Nathan went back to work this morning. I am happy to report I made it to the doctors appointment on time and I was even showered and had time to do my hair!
Jackson is more alert now and is staying awake for longer periods. Thank goodness those periods of awake are during the day. He is still waking every three hours for feedings. Luckily, at night he goes right back to sleep. I am really hoping he starts going for longer periods at night now that he is up more during the day. He has made a few small cooing sounds. We are really looking forward to first smiles and lots of cooing in the weeks to come. Nathan goes back to work on Monday, :(. It has been such a special time having Nathan here with us all day this past month, we have been spoiled.
Gretchen and Mommy roaring like lions
Jackson not so into the zoo yet.
Out to dinner for my 31st birthday. We took Jackson with us and he slept the whole time. I was not about to wake him up for a picture.
Making apple pie with the apples we got from apple picking.
I just packed up all Jack's newborn clothes, :(. He is growing even faster then Gretchen did. He is a terrific eater so far and he sleeps well. He does decide every few nights to party from 2-4 am, I am hoping that ends soon.
